This is probably because it is simply a stunning piece of craftsmanship an absolute wonder to behold.

Located in Rome, Italy it attracts millions of visitors each year and it isn’t hard to understand why.

The fountain is one of the oldest water sources in Rome and was built at the end point of an ancient aqueduct, at the junction of three roads.

These three streets give the Trevi Fountain its name, The Three Street Fountain.

A Charitable Source

Each day it is estimated that around 3,000 euros are tossed in to the fountain.

The money is then used to subsidise a supermarket for Rome’s poor. What an incredible idea.

For visitors to the Trevi Fountain, traditional legend suggests that if you toss a coin in to the Trevi Fountain then you are ensured a return to Rome.

So if you needed any more of a reason to visit then that’s probably the clincher!

An Epic Sight

Standing at over 26 metres high and over 45 metres wide the Trevi Fountain is massive.

The Trevi Fountain was designed by Italian architect Nicola Salvi but he died before its completion. It was finally completed by Giuseppe Pannini in 1762.

It’s actually built from the same stone used to construct the Colosseum!

The fountains outstanding beauty means that it has been used in a number of Hollywood blockbusters.

With all the interest it receives it’s no wonder that the Trevi requires a bit of TLC every now and then.

Trevi Fountain

The Trevi Fountain has naturally deteriorated over time and is in regular need of maintenance.

Because of this the fountain has been restored and re-furbished a number of times.

Most recently, the fashion house Fendi sponsored a 20 month, 2.2 million euro restoration project completed in 2015.
