Wether you are eight or 80 there is something for you at Universal Resort Orlando! Split between 2 theme parks, Universal studios and Universal Island of Adventure are sure to be fun, thrilling and insightful from the word go.
Greeted by the famous spinning globe at Universal Studios, step into a theme park like no other. There are 3D and 4D rides and amusements galore and they’re not just for children.
Stop by The Simpsons world…grab a giant donut, sip on Duff beer and have your photo taken with Homer and Krusty The Clown.
There are many Simpsons themed rides in this area, including Kang and Kodos twirl and hurl (maybe don’t have the donut and duff beer before going on this one!!) Jump on the Men in Black Alien Attack ride, and do just that.. Attack the aliens! Its an arcade style shooting game, but also a ride!
Island of Adventure
The second park, Island of Adventure, is all about the rides. A typical all American theme park, there are currently 25 rides and amusements here.
My favourite ride at Island of Adventure was the Spider-Man ride, its a must! The special effects on this 4D ride are amazing!
Dudley Do-Rights Rip Falls water ride is great, and you will get WET! Perfect on a hot day. Jurassic Park River adventure is another classic ride not to be missed. This water raft style ride takes you on a tour of Jurassic park… watch out for the Dinosaurs!
During busy periods expect to queue for around 40 minutes for the popular rides such as Minions, Transformers and Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. If you are staying at a Universal Resort hotel, you do get early access… use this to your advantage, you wont regret it!
In the evening there is a firework and water show over the ‘lake’. It is very popular so make sure you check the times and get there a little early to grab the best spot. Some places do tell you that you will get wet if you stand there… believe me, you will!
It really is a great example of the movie magic Universal have created over the years.
You’re a Wizard Harry!
Universal is also a must see for any Harry Potter fan, with the film featuring highly in both parks. Take the Hogwarts Express to The Wizzarding World of Harry Potter for a great experience. The effects are so good you will feel like you’re on a real film set! There are shops and eateries in the Harry Potter world that are so authentic looking, you can buy butter beer, wands, capes… even broomsticks!!
There are also great live shows to be seen in both parks. They are all timed use your map and check the time table… its also a great way to sit down and have a rest! You will need it after all the fun and excitement of the day!
After a fun filled day, or two, sit back and relax in one of the many bars and restaurants Universals City Walk has to offer.
Time to Eat
For authentic Jamaican food and music head to Bob Marley, A Tribute To Freedom bar and restaurant, the outside tables fill up fast so be sure to book. Sitting outside means you get a front row seat to the music entertainment of the evening, so there’s no need to rush your meal, you can stay for the whole evening.
For a great American sports bar and restaurant head to NBC Sport Grill and Brew. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is great and any sport you fancy can be watched on one of their 100 in house screens! Book in advance for an upstairs table, where you can watch over the kitchen whilst also catching up on the sporting events of the day.
